The carrying concealed weapons permit (CCW) 16 - hour course mandated by
  the sheriff's department includes classroom and live - fire range time to qualify.
  You must qualify with the weapon(s) you are going to carry. Applicants must
  be pre-approved by the sheriff's department, unless otherwise stated by the
  local sherriff's office.

  For your original CCW permit, in California, once approved by the Sheriff in
  the county in which you reside, is an 8 hour course which is mandatory. This
  course includes classroom and live-fire range time to qualify.

  The 4 hour renewal course is current permits includes classroom and live-fire
  range time as required by each department.

  Our Instructor is presently authorized to teach the above courses for El
  Dorado County, Placer County, and Amador County.
